Dubai Roads Revamp: Travel Times to Drop by 80% in Key Areas

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to revolutionize traffic flow in four neighborhoods—Nadd Hessa, Al Awir 1, Al Barsha South, and Wadi Al Safa 3. The ambitious upgrades will cut travel times by up to 80% and boost road capacity by as much as 80%, benefiting over 1.2 million residents.

Highlights include a new two-lane access point for Nadd Hessa, serving communities like Dubai Silicon Oasis, and doubling road capacity in Al Awir 1. Al Barsha Southwill see lane expansions, slashing signal wait times by 75%, while Wadi Al Safa3 gains direct connections to major roads, reducing travel time from 10 minutes to just two.

In Al Warqa, new entry points, redesigned intersections, and 8km of expanded roads will handle 5,000 vehicles per hour and cut commutes from 20 minutes to just 3.5. Plus, a 16km cycling track will link Al Warqa to nearby routes, making the area more accessible than ever.

These roadworks promise faster commutes, smoother traffic, and better connections, transforming daily life for Dubai residents.
