Coldplay’s Abu Dhabi concerts set new UAE record

Coldplay has made history in the UAE with their record-breaking series of four sold-out concerts in Abu Dhabi. Hosted at Zayed Sports City Stadium, the shows drew over 200,000 fans, making it the largest concert series ever held in the country. The performances were part of the band’s Music of the Spheres world tour and marked their only stop in the Middle East.

The stadium, typically accommodating 45,000 people, was transformed to hold an even larger crowd with additional space on the pitch. Fans were treated to a spectacular show featuring Coldplay’s greatest hits and tracks from their latest album, Moon Music. The concerts, filled with vibrant lights and unforgettable moments, also sparked hundreds of proposals among the audience and dominated social media feeds across the region.

The economic impact of the event was significant. Hotels in Abu Dhabi reported room rates increasing by up to 300% as thousands of fans traveled to the capital for the concerts. Special transportation arrangements were made, including free shuttle buses from key locations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, ensuring smooth access to the venue.

Organised by Live Nation Middle East and supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the concerts broke the previous attendance record set by Ed Sheeran’s Dubai shows last year. Live Nation’s President James Craven described the event as a milestone for the region and hinted at future collaborations with Coldplay, highlighting the dedication of the team behind the event.
