Located between Dubai Internet City and Sobha Realty stations, the metro stop is the latest to undergo rebranding under the RTA’s sponsorship model, which allows companies to secure naming rights for select metro stations. The initiative, introduced in 2008, was the first of its kind in the world, providing a new revenue stream for Dubai’s public transport system.
With 767,000 daily riders, station names have become a high-visibility branding opportunity. Since the metro launched, 17 stations have been renamed, with businesses meeting strict eligibility criteria – they must have an established presence in the UAE, be financially stable, and align with Dubai’s values.
The transformation of Al Khail into Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station is part of a wider pattern. Other high-profile rebrands include Al Rashidiya to Centrepoint, Al Jafiliya to max, JLT to DMCC, and Nakheel to Al Khail.
Signage updates for the new name will roll out between April and June, with changes also reflected in public transport apps, digital systems, and onboard audio announcements. With Dubai Metro set to expand to 140 stations by 2040, more rebrands are expected in the years ahead.
