With 29 days of filming in the UAE, the production utilized some of Abu Dhabi’s most cinematic locations, including Zayed International Airport, twofour54 Studios at Yas Creative Hub, and, of course, the iconic Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Supported by Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s rebate scheme, the film had a 284-member local crew, plus 15 UAE-based interns, working alongside Hollywood heavyweights to bring this high-octane story to life.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, and seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films, F1 follows Sonny Hayes (Pitt) – a former racing prodigy whose career was cut short by a devastating accident. Decades later, he’s given one last shot at redemption, teaming up with rookie sensation Joshua Pearce (Idris) to revive a struggling Formula 1 team. But in a sport where teammates are also rivals, the road to victory is anything but smooth.
Abu Dhabi has long been a cinematic powerhouse, with F1 being one of 170 major productions supported by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission since the launch of its rebate program in 2013. With actual Grand Prix footageseamlessly woven into the film, this project is set to deliver one of the most immersive racing experiences ever seen on screen.
The countdown is on – F1 hits theaters globally on June 25, 2025, with a North American release on June 27. Whether you're a motorsport fanatic or just love a pulse-pounding drama, this one is shaping up to be an adrenaline-fueled must-watch.
