The ranking is based on survey data collected over the past three years, evaluating public perceptions of crime levels, safety while walking at night, and concerns related to violent crime, theft and discrimination. A higher score reflects a stronger sense of safety among residents and visitors.
The UAE’s position in the index highlights its ongoing efforts to provide a secure environment across all seven emirates. Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi was once again ranked the safest city in the world – a title it has held for nine consecutive years – with a score of 88. Dubai and Sharjah followed closely, ranked second and third globally among cities with scores of 83.9 and 83.8 respectively.
Other GCC countries also performed strongly, with Qatar coming in third and Oman in fifth place in the global country rankings. Taiwan, Isle of Man, Hong Kong, Armenia, Singapore, and Japan also featured in the top 10.
