Dubai Metro Blue Line to Open in 2029

The highly-anticipated Dubai Metro Blue Line is set to be completed on September 9, 2029, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the metro's inaugural operations. This ambitious project will span 30 kilometres, featuring 14 stations – nine elevated and five underground – and will significantly enhance connectivity across some of the most densely populated areas of the emirate.

The new line will integrate seamlessly with the existing metro network, connecting with the Red Line at Centrepoint Station and the Green Line at Al Khor Station. It will serve key locations, including Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek, International City, Al Rashidiya, Al Warqa, Mirdif, Silicon Oasis, and Academic City.

The Blue Line will also introduce a first for the metro system – a 1,300-metre bridge crossing Dubai Creek, combining elevated and underground tracks for a mix of efficiency and architectural innovation. A standout station at Dubai Creek Harbour, designed by renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, will add a unique touch to the route.

Construction, set to begin in April 2025, will be undertaken by a consortium of Turkish and Chinese firms, including MAPA, Limak, and CRRC. The project underscores Dubai's commitment to sustainable urban development and expanded public transport options, connecting key hubs and reducing travel time across the city.
