This move follows the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s announcement to cancel the EmSAT exams for 12th-grade students and shift to revised university admission standards.
Now, each university will establish its own criteria based on the academic specialization a student intends to pursue. This change aims to create a smoother transition into higher education. For medical and engineering programs, admissions committees will now prioritize students' science grades over overall scores.
Universities have affirmed they will continue to accept international assessments, like theSAT or ACT, as long as they meet admission standards. This change also allows institutions to adopt a more comprehensive approach to evaluating candidates, considering a wider range of skills and achievements, including academic performance, extracurricular activities, and other individualized criteria.
