Unveiled during Dubai AI Week 2025, the strategy outlines a five-year roadmap that includes 81 AI-powered projects and initiatives to be implemented between now and 2030. The initiative aims to not only cut commute durations by 20 to 30 percent, but also boost productivity, lower operational costs, and enhance overall quality of life for residents.
According to the RTA, the plan is built around six core pillars: people happiness, seamless and innovative mobility, intelligent traffic management, cognitive licensing, future-proof organisation, and asset excellence.
Among its headline goals, the RTA hopes to:
– Increase productivity by 25 to 40 percent
– Reduce operational costs by 10 to 20 percent
– Improve customer happiness by up to 35 percent
The announcement highlights the growing role of smart technology in Dubai’s urban planning. AI will be used across a wide range of transport systems – from traffic flow optimisation and predictive maintenance, to smarter licensing procedures and integrated transport networks.
The move is part of a broader effort by the RTA to stay ahead of future mobility trends while improving day-to-day life in the city. In addition to long-term projects, the authority is continuing to upgrade infrastructure on a neighbourhood level. On April 22, for instance, the RTA completed a series of works in the Al Raffa area, including a new entrance and improved access routes.
